Built in the 19th century, it is one of the oldest and most popular hawker centres in the city. The market features a mix of traditional and modern architecture, with its iconic octagonal shape and ornate columns. It was originally built as a wet market for the sale of fresh produce, but was later converted into a food centre in the 1980s. Today, Lau Pa Sat is a bustling hub of food and culture, with over 50 stalls offering a wide variety of local and international cuisine. Some of the must-try dishes include satay, laksa, chicken rice, and Hokkien mee.
